Neuropathy

Peripheral Neuropathy can be a devastating disorder affecting all facets of life. Numbness and pain commonly begin in the feet, but may include the legs, hands and arms. In many patients, the pain is worse at night or after exercise.

Peripheral Neuropathy is not a single disease, but rather is the result of conditions such as traumatic injuries, lumbar disc herniations, metabolic disorders (commonly diabetes), use of certain drugs, nutritional deficiencies, and exposure to toxins.

Regardless of the cause of the Peripheral Neuropathy, the effect on the nerves is the same. Damage from the above mentioned conditions decrease the oxygen and nutrient supply to nerves. The nerves cannot function properly, and begin to cry out, causing burning, numbness, shooting pain, weakness, and other troubling symptoms.

Peripheral Neuropathy typically begins in the longest nerves that reach down to your toes, which is why most sufferers will have pain in the feet and legs. Symptoms and their severity between patients will vary, depending on which types of nerves are affected and the degree of damage. Signs and symptoms include:

  • Numbness and tingling in your feet or hands, which may spread upwards into your legs and arms
  • Burning pain
  • Sharp, jabbing or electric-like pain
  • Extreme sensitivity to touch
  • Lack of coordination
  • Loss of balance
  • Muscle weakness or paralysis

Dr. Bailey offers a safe, effective treatment program for neuropathic pain and numbness without drugs or surgery. Regardless of the cause of the Peripheral Neuropathy, our program of treatment can help to restore proper nerve health and function.

Every patient receives a thorough examination to determine if they have Peripheral Neuropathy and every patient receives a personalized treatment program, tailored to meet their needs.

Testimonials:

"Before treating with Dr. Bailey, my lower back and legs were hurting and I couldn't walk much.  After just six treatments, I've improved about 30-40%."  E.G. Curling, Somerville, Texas

"My feet were painful and numb. My left wrist, back,  and left toe also hurt. I had very poor balance. In just a few treatments, my balance is improving, and there is no pain in my back or anywhere else.  My life is  improved. It is so much easier to get around.  I also sleep better.  I definitely like the treatment. My life is much better." Carillon Rinard, College Station, Texas

"My neuropathy was affecting my balance. I was unsteady to go up or down stairs without holding onto something. Even just walking I had to constantly be aware of where my feet were placed for fear of falling.  Now my balance has improved. I am walking 30 to 40 minutes 4-5 times per week. My confidence on stairs has improved. I no longer feel that I am going to need a walker or wheelchair in the near future like I did before treatment."  Fran McGuire, College Station, Texas

What's the difference between sick care and health care?
Sick care is largely about relieving or suppressing symptoms. Health care is about improving performance. While sick care is about how you feel, health care is about how you function. Sick care is what you do to treat an obvious problem, and health care is what you do to avoid the problem and advance your well-being.
Why does chiropractic work?
Chiropractic works because your nervous system, consisting of your brain, spinal cord and all the nerves of your body, controls and regulates every cell, tissue, organ and system of your body. A chiropractor locates and reduces areas of nervous system compromise (usually along the spine) so your capacity to heal is restored. Chiropractic works by helping your body work as it was designed.
