Introducing Bryan Chiropractor
Dr. David Bailey

I asked my friend Mike, why is an intelligent fellow like you going back to school to be a quack?  He had just told me he was going to Texas Chiropractic College to become a chiropractor. At the time, we were both high school teachers. I taught physical science and he taught biology.

As it turned out we both found ourselves in the Houston area.  He was going to chiropractic college, and I was hired as a chemist by an engineering company.  The more time we spent together, the more I became intrigued by his journey into chiropractic.  My preconceived notions were challenged; my skepticism gave way to the reality of the art and science of chiropractic.

So it came to be that I joined him at Texas Chiropractic College, and graduated in 1985.  It was a challenging and rewarding educational experience.  My degree in chemistry from Texas A & M University (class of 1973) had prepared me to think critically and was a key foundation to my success.

Soon after graduation from Texas Chiropractic College, I established my practice here in Bryan.

I continued my postgraduate education by taking a course of study in chiropractic orthopedics at Texas Chiropractic College and at Los Angeles Chiropractic College.  I became board certified in chiropractic orthopedics three years later in 1988.  This training gave me a deeper understanding of the proper function of the muscles and joints, preparing me further to be able to provide effective treatment  to relieve the suffering of my patients.

In September 2004 I decided to broaden my health care education, and enrolled at Texas A & M Health Science Center School of Rural Public Health.  In December 2005 I was awarded a Masters of Public Health, in health policy and management.  The MPH degree included training in the proper evaluation of research articles, health care organization management, epidemiology, occupational health and safety, and the interface of government and health care delivery.

My mission at the Bailey Health & Wellness Center is to provide cost effective, high-quality care to people of all ages, to be a partner in making each person's like more fulfilling. We strive to not only help correct your health problems, but to provide information and understanding to prevent problems in the future.

I am married to a wonderful lady Agnes.  The joy of my life is my five children, Ben, Amanda, Zachary, Melissa and Melanie.  Max the Doberman is also a family member.

Dr. Bailey Asks some important questions of interest to Bryan residents - Chiropractor Bryan Dr. Bailey Asks...

What's the difference between sick care and health care?
Sick care is largely about relieving or suppressing symptoms. Health care is about improving performance. While sick care is about how you feel, health care is about how you function. Sick care is what you do to treat an obvious problem, and health care is what you do to avoid the problem and advance your well-being.
Are aches and pains good or bad?
While aches or pains may be unpleasant, they're merely warning signs. As a Bryan chiropractor, I see this all the time. The pain is not the problem! It just means a limitation has been reached and something needs to change. That's when we get to work correcting the underlying cause.
